2) Cerveceria Catalana
3) Ciudad Condal
4) Paco Meralgo
“Cachitos” has 2 locations in Barcelona: Rambla de Catalunya 33 and Avenida Diagonal 508. The second spot has been recently opened and is a bit more fancy than the one located on Rambla de Catalunia. I would recommend the first one for lunch, whereas “Cachitos Diagonal” is a great place to have dinner with your friends or family. The menu offered by the restaurant is a little bit more than typical tapas: you can find dishes that are quite sophisticated and are originally served. Whatever you decide to try would be a great choice! My favourite ones appear to be “Cesar salad” and fried eggplant with parmesan cheese.
“Cerveceria Catalana” is probably one of the most famous tapas spots in Barcelona. This restaurant is located on Mallorca, 236. It should be mentioned that this tapas place is so popular among both; tourists and locals. Do keep in mind: you do not have an opportunity to reserve a table. In general you are going to spend in a line about 20-40 minutes to get a table for dinner or lunch. The secret behind this popularity is quite simple: the quality of the food is very high and prices are very reasonable for this area. Tropical salad, huevos revueltos (scrambled eggs) are definitely a MUST try!
“Ciudad Condal” has a quite similar atmosphere to “Cerveceria Catalana” mentioned above. The restaurant is located on Rambla de Catalunya, 18 it is a great place to have a fast breakfast (cup of fresh coffee and typical bocadillo with tomato and jam) as well as a chilled dinner on a terrace. No reservations are excepted, but here you will probably spend less time waiting for a table than in “Cerveceria Catalana”.
“Paco Meralgo” is my favourite tapas place. Even though the prices are a little bit higher than in all mentioned above spots – food is much more sophisticated. I could definitely call this place a “value for money”, you pay more but the experience is worth it. It is better to reserve the table in advance, even if you are going to visit this place during the week because the restaurant is always full. “Paco Meralgo” offers their clients the opportunity to book a space for ten people in order to spend the time in a more private atmosphere. My recommendations are spicy Patatas
Bravas, a plate of fine jamon serrano, fried eggplant and absolutely delicious homemade croquets.
Last but not the least “Ignicio” – a wonderful cosy restaurant with tapas and Mediterranean food. This place is recommended for business dinners (more informal occasions though), dates or dinner with family. The plate you should definitely try is a “non-traditional Patatas Bravas”, octopus, chicken wings and incredible butterfish. Apart from that, if you love the tartar just like I do “Ignicio” will become one of your favourite tapas spot. The restaurant is located on Carrer de Còrsega, 244.
