Art Basel is ready for the 2020 Miami Beach Edition

The International Contemporary Art Fair will take place on 4 days from Thursday, December 03 to Sunday, December 06, 2020 in Miami Beach.

Art Basel is the leading global platform connecting collectors, galleries, and artists. Art Basel’s fairs in Basel, Hong Kong, and Miami Beach are a driving force in supporting galleries as they nurture the careers of artists. Their publications “The Art Market” and the “Art Market Principles and Best Practices” are a commitment to increasing the transparency and accountability of the art market. Art Basel’s Initiatives strive to create unique artist-led experiences and strengthen local art scenes.

In the American show, leading galleries from North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia show significant work from Master of Modern and Contemporary art, as well as the new generation of emerging stars.

The Miami Beach edition has been an annual fixture in early December since 2002. The creation of a trio of Swiss gallery owners, Ernst Beyeler, Trudi Bruckner and Balz Hilt’s vision brought together the artists they represented, as well as collectors, curators, and critics from around the world for the first Art Basel in Switzerland. His vision was a success and more. 16,000 people attended the first fair.

Art Basel extends its engagement beyond art fairs through complementary initiatives dedicated to supporting the artworld’s key players and fortifying the art ecosystem at large. These endeavors include the BMW Art Journey, a joint initiative launched in 2015 with BMW to recognize and support emerging artists worldwide; Art Basel Cities, which since 2016 has worked with select partner cities to develop dynamic programming and connect them to Art Basel’s international network; and the Art Basel and UBS Global Art Market Report, a comprehensive analysis published annually since 2017.

Miami was selected as an ideal destination with its unique position at the nexus of North and South America. Over the years, with Art Basel’s blessing, Miami has become a thriving year-round art destination in its own right with a vibrant Scene gallery, cutting-edge museums, and world-class street art.The entire city is transformed every year into a canvas for ephemeral installations and artistic events. Visitors from all over the world can leisurely stroll through South Beach, Midtown, Wynwood or Downtown to enjoy the views. This great event ignites the life of the city, bringing with it VIP parties, dinners and events at the best places every day and night. The June edition in Switzerland was postponed to September this year due to the Corona-crisis, but the Miami edition is still standing for the first week of December 2020, we hope that the fair takes place and that it can continue to enhance the art sector at an international level.

In the interim, Art Basel will continue to invest in and enhance its new digital platform – the Online Viewing Rooms – as a way to support galleries in these challenging times.
