In the center of Moscow the museum of modern art ‘Garage’ has been opened

The new building was opened in Gorky Park in June and has already attracted thousands of visitors. The centre is spread over more than five thousand square meters and the reconstruction of a forgotten monument to Soviet modernism was newly designed by the architects of Rem Koolhaas OMA – an international leader in the field of urban development and cultural analysis.

Now you can find five exhibition halls, a media library, a lecture hall, educational centres, a bookstore, a library and an area in the atrium for installations created specifically for the museum. The guests can visit a cinema and the rooftop terrace, leave their kids in a children’s creative centre and have a snack in the cafe. Yard “Garage” is going to be used as an exhibition space for the public art on international scale.

The organizers invite you to visit the summer program which will continue till the 23th of August. It includes eight exhibitions, a demonstration of the building’s possibility and reflects the Museum’s various activities: exhibition, scientific, research, educational and publishing programs.

The museum of modern art ‘Garage’ is one of the main Moscow’s exhibition grounds, which include contemporary art and combines an education centre with lectures, master classes and round tables. It was opened in 2008 by the Cultural Foundation IRIS headed by Darya Zhukova with the participation of the international art curator Mollie Dent-Brocklehurst.

The Museum is located in the historic building of the Bahmetevsky garage. In December 2012 the “Garage” moved and settled in Gorky Park. Inaugurating this summer the park will be the place to visit the renewed exhibition. On 1th of May in 2013 “Garage” was launched as The museum of modern art.
