Rituals, the 2016 winner

Rituals had the honour to receive the ‘Best Retail Global Expansion’ award at the 21st edition of the MAPIC Awards in Cannes.
This award honours the retailer that has managed to extend its presence on an international scale in the past two years. Both quantitative and qualitative criteria have been considered by the judges: number of shops opened and to be opened, adaptability to the market, development strategy and marketing campaigns.

The 21st edition of the MAPIC Awards was celebrated during a gala dinner held on Thursday 17 november. 300 of the most influential professionals of the retail industry attended this highly-respected event.

The story of Rituals started in 1999 when Raymond Cloosterman, founder and CEO of Rituals Cosmetics, decided to create a global lifestyle brand inspired by ancient Asian rituals. The opening of the very first store in Amsterdam in 2000 was followed by openings in vibrant cities such as London, Madrid, Sydney, Antwerp, Lisbon, Berlin, Stockholm and New York. With a wide product line including body care, skin care, precious mineral make-up, pure tea, scented candles and fragrance sticks, the brand transforms every day routines into more meaningful moments. Each product, over 400 in total, is inspired by an ancient Eastern tradition. Today, the luxury lifestyle brand holds over 485 stores, more than 1450 shop-inshops and 4 City spas in 27 countries worldwide. Rituals Cosmetics has also seen a rapid expansion in duty free, airline, cruise liners and ferries as well as hotels and is sold on or supplied by 10 different airlines.

The rapid expansion still continues, Rituals opened 110 company owned stores in 2016 and the luxury life style brand plans to open 120 own stores in 2017.
