On July 18th 2016, CHANEL’s boutique at Paseo de Gracia 70 in Barcelona, reopens its doors with a brand new look: 451 square meters dedicated to CHANEL’s unique universe, featuring Karl Lagerfeld’s latest Ready-to-Wear collections, handbags, shoes, costume jewelry and accessories as well as LES EXCLUSIFS DE CHANEL fragrance
collection and a selection of watches.
The boutique’s design was entrusted to New-York based architect Peter Marino, who has managed to brilliantly reinterpret the firm’s aesthetic codes. The result is a three-storey boutique that captures all CHANEL’s characteristics: Parisian refinement, modernity and audacity.
The extensive, eye-catching decorated windows display Karl Lagerfeld’s latest creations, while the inside of the boutique reveals an interior inspired by Mademoiselle Chanel’s Parisian apartment at 31, rue Cambon, combining both intimacy and elegance in every room. Gold metal, white stone and polished surface materials, such as glass and lacquer, set the perfect background for the luxurious rich textures of handmade wall finishes, woven wool carpets and tweed furnishings, blending architectural elements with handcrafted items.
Upon entering the boutique, clients discover on the left the sunglasses collection and on the right a large room dedicated to the season’s handbags displayed on shelves and glass cabinets or delicately presented inside tweed-upholstered niches. Further along, clients enter in the shoe area, embellished with high windows and decorated with a mirror by artist Curtis Jere.
Draping down from the first floor to the lower floor, the splendid twisting pearl-necklace sculpture by renowned French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel creates an exceptional setting all along the spacious spiral staircase in white marble.
The lower floor displays within two rooms, the season’s handbags, costume jewellery and scarves, as well as a watch area, in a lavish new setting that reveals a selection of pieces from the J12, Première, Mademoiselle Privé and Boy-Friend collections, including the new Boy-Friend Steel.
The entire first floor is dedicated to Ready-to-Wear featuring two “salons” that provide an intimate atmosphere where clients are invited to linger on the welcoming tweed sofas while they discover the new collections. Both “salons” use subtle combinations of materials –black crackle lacquer and gold leaf finish tables next to upholstered chairs in green, lilac and beige custom woven fabric– harmoniously mixing antique and contemporary elements and lending a timeless elegance to the space. The two large fitting rooms, decorated with artworks by artists Peter Dayton and Jurgen Drescher, have been treated with the same vein of refinement.
Conceived as a showcase for CHANEL’s creativity and know-how, this new boutique offers an elegant, sophisticated and unforgettable experience at the very heart of Barcelona.
