The HISWA in-water Boat Show closed on Sunday 3 September having welcomed 21,751 visitors. This was the final edition of the boat show to be held in Amsterdam itself, with the event due to move north-east of the Dutch capital to Lelystad next year. Although the visitor numbers were slightly below the 2016 figure those who did attend were certainly willing to buy.
From 29 August to 3 September, the HISWA in-water Boat Show featured around 250 boats, hundreds of watersport items and a wide range of activities. “Exhibitors were selling boats from the opening day,” says exhibition manager Michelle Jonker. “In addition, lots of sea trials were booked and tenders requested. Exhibitors expect these to translate into more sales over the coming months.”
Many exhibitors were positive about the event, including Bas Lengers from Lengers Yachts: “It was a very successful show at which we made many new contacts. I am sure it will result in various transactions.” Newcomer AdmiralsTender sold a vessel to a new client on the first day, and another later in the week. “I am certain that the atmosphere at the HISWA in-water Boat Show contributed to these sales,” says managing director Foppe-Jan Smit. Meanwhile, the Catamaran Fontaine Pajot from Newpoint Moverbo attracted lots of attention. “The increasing interest in catamarans was very clear during the event,” comments the company’s co-owner Hans Bouwens. “We spoke to many people, including some with a serious interest in buying.”
HISWA in-water Boat Show in Lelystad
The 2018 HISWA in-water Boat Show will be held in the Bataviahaven event marina in Lelystad. The organisers carried out an extensive analysis for the future, which resulted in the HISWA Amsterdam in-water Boat Show being relocated to Lelystad as of next year. The move to a larger location is necessary for the show to maintain its leading position and continue to grow. The many options at the Bataviahaven offer a wide range of benefits, which is why the organisers have decided to start using its extensive facilities from 2018. The HISWA in-water Boat Show 2018 will be held takes place from 4 to 9 September.
